Winter Lawn Care Tips for Wisconsin

We've already received some snow here in Northeast Wisconsin, and it isn't even December yet! Let's run through some quick winter lawn care tips to make sure your lawn comes back looking sharp in spring:

  • Make sure any random items/debris are taken off the lawn. Grass covered by objects in winter is sure to come back yellow, brown, and sickly in spring. Piles of leaves will create the same harmful impact.

  • Try to avoid heavy foot traffic and definitely don't park your vehicles in the yard. This compacts the soil and harms the turf.

  • Mark the edges of your driveway if you plow snow or have a company that does the work for you. Snow plow damage to lawns is extremely common over winter when the operators can't tell where the grass meets the driveway.

  • Any bare spots in the lawn last season? Start thinking about buying some new seed to throw down in the area when warm spring temperatures arrive again. The most popular turf in Wisconsin is Kentucky Bluegrass.

  • Give us a call/text to sign up for our fertilization & weed control program beginning in spring, or if you have any questions about your renewal. 920-880-3956 or service@weedwranglerlawns.com

We hope everyone has a wonderful winter, and will see you again soon in spring!
